As a success coach I often get asked what I believe is the key to success. While I think there are many things we do and habits and behaviors we practice that influence our success, there is one thing that I can look to as being one of the most significant factors in my success not just in my work, but in every area of my life and that is CONSISTENCY.
Much like reaching a certain goal weight or accomplishing a certain number of unassisted pull ups at the gym is not about the amount of calories consumed on a single day or a single workout but rather the cumulative effect that happens over time, success in our business does not come overnight and it does not come by the implementation of a single strategy. It comes as a result of intelligent and deliberate action on a daily basis over a period of time.
Consistency is part of what will shift people from a place of struggle to a place where stellar results become frequent.
For example, I struggled to maintain a healthy body and weight for over 6 years. About 14 months ago, I joined a gym and hired a trainer. I got decent results but I still was not consistent with doing WHAT WORKED. I was putting minimal effort in yet expecting amazing results. So, I made a commitment 3 months ago to be consistent with my cardio and get at least 4 to 5 workouts in every week. Shazam. Like magic I was able to hit my ideal target quickly.
Think about how consistent you are being in your marketing, in your sales efforts, in your planning, and in your team development – in your whole life in general. Now look at your results. Where are you doing enough to just get by vs. having consistency that would lead to stellar results? Are you making it a point every single week to review what you are doing or set an intention for what you will do? (oh, and a little hint, you do not have to do it all yourself either.)
What are the things you know you need to do on a consistent basis to accomplish your goals and create the lifestyle business you want? What would you like to do away with but is completely necessary to become successful? Ask these questions and ponder on them seriously.
